This workshop offers an introduction to freshwater invertebrate identification and survey techniques. Participants will gain knowledge of key indicator organisms and be introduced to skills in survey techniques for freshwater habitats. The workshop deals with recognising signs of freshwater pollution, equipment and procedures required to carry out freshwater invertebrate surveys and how to structure a research report based on fieldwork information gathered.

This workshop will cover:
- introduction to freshwater invertebrate identification;
- equipment and procedures required to carry out freshwater invertebrate survey;
- techniques for surveying ponds and streams for invertebrates;
- recognising signs of freshwater pollution;
- interpretation of survey results; and
- health and safety.
The day will include a visits to local ponds and streams
