Wednesday 10 September 2008

Location: Moulton College, Northampton
Participant Standard: Beginner
Tutor(s): James Littlemore MIEEM

GIS is widely used in education, research and commercial environments and is primarily used for land management and planning purposes. This practical beginners workshop will provide delegates with an introduction to GIS and show them how the computer mapping software can help guide decision-making and problem solving for conservation management, forestry and ecological purposes. Participants will examine a range of case-studies using the industry standard MapInfo Professional software, and will gain ‘hands-on’ experience on how to get data into MapInfo, work with tables and browsers, use and create raster, vector and thematic maps and create and manipulate layouts. No prior knowledge is required, but basic computer literacy is desirable.

Cost: IEEM member = £60.00; Non-member = £120.00
