Lake and Reservoir Management

Standing open waters of all types are now BAP priority habitats, with ecological requirements under the Water Framework Directive. This workshop will offer an introduction to the management of lake and reservoir sites, looking at wetland ecology, habitat design and creation, recreational zoning and the impacts of fluctuating water levels. There will be a combination of indoors sessions and site visits to see practical examples of the issues involved.
Who should attend this workshop?
Aimed at people who are involved in the management of lakes and reservoirs. In particular, concerned with the multiple-use of sites for biodiversity, recreation and water resource, or with the potential impacts of climate change on open waters.
Anything participants need to know/read before coming on the training event, or need to have with them?
Bring with you:
- Hand Lens;
- Freshwater ID guide;
- Wellington Boots; and
- Outdoor clothing.
Lunch will not be provided. You may bring your own or there are restaurant and take-away café options on the site.
