Field Signs and Habitat Management for Water Voles

Level: Beginner – Intermediate

The workshop will provide a basic introduction to water voles, current legislation, their ecology, habitats and current constraints on distribution, how to survey for the species in different habitats and include practical surveying. This session will be followed by site visits to view examples of habitats created or enhanced for water voles, as well as a selection of urban sites where water voles are present.

IEEM Members: £80 (£70 if booked before 24 January 2010).
Non-members: £160 (£140 if booked before 24 January 2010).

 

Who should attend this workshop?

Ecologists expecting to survey for the species and those involved in site management or habitat creation/restoration projects where water voles may be an issue.

Anything participants need to know/read before coming on the training event, or need to have with them?

Bring:

  • Outdoor field clothing.
  • Waterproofs.
  • Waders (if possible).
  • A packed lunch.
