The workshop will cover the basic skills required for field work, what equipment to use, how to research a site, determining what survey to use, planning and undertaking a survey, analysing data and what to include in your final report.

NB. Accommodation IS NOT included in the cost of this workshop.

Further details about the workshop

This beginner level workshop covers the basic skills required for an ornithological survey and how to assess the abilities of other surveyors you may use. The workshop includes six hours practical work, where the skills learnt during the workshop can be put to test in the field.  This will include a dawn start on the second day to give participants first hand experience of field conditions. The workshop also teaches you how to assess a site, gives advice on the best places to research information and gives participants the skills to determine what type of surveys are suitable for different sites and different species.

  • Binoculars, telescope and tripod (if they already have them but not essential).
