Species Reintroductions: Philosophy, Issues and Implications

Thursday, 8 October 2009
Cairnbaan Hotel, near Lochgilphead, Argyll

BACKGROUND

In recent years, several iconic species have been reintroduced to Scotland. This one-day conference will explore the ecological and socio-economic implications of this sometimes controversial issue. The day will include a visit to the Knapdale Forest where the five-year trial reintroduction of the European beaver is currently taking place.

Looking at the general issues with notable case study examples, the conference is aimed at advisors, practitioners and anyone with a wider interest in bringing back lost species.
