North East England Section


North East England has a rich natural heritage of species and landscapes including stretches of rugged coastline, extensive upland tracts, and the unique Magnesium Limestone grasslands of East Durham found nowhere else in the world.

There are currently 130 members in the North East England Section.

The evening will begin at 18:30 with tea/coffee and a light buffet followed by a talk by Tim Sparks of the UK Phenology Network and Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. Tim will discuss empirical evidence showing the effects of climatic warming on the timing of easily observed natural history events such as the earliest recorded cuckoo song, leaf growth, nesting of birds and appearance of butterflies (see http://www.phenology.org.uk for more information). Tim's talk will be followed by the Section's Annual General Meeting.
