Train the Trainer
ABOUT THIS COURSE
This one day course is designed to help improve the effectiveness of your training delivery and enhance the trainees’ learning experience. Attendance on this course will enable current and prospective tutors to evidence training competence for inclusion in IEEM’s future professional development programmes. This will demonstrate to prospective students that you not only have the subject expertise but also the skills to teach.
The course will cover learning theory but will primarily focus on the practical application of facilitation techniques. We will show you how to design sessions to cater for differences in the way people prefer to learn, their interests, goals and readiness for course material. Common obstacles to learning will be discussed and how these can be overcome. Tips on how to engage and maintain learners’ interest and maximise information retention will also be a central theme for the day.
Giving effective and constructive feedback will be covered with an emphasis on how it can be used to motivate individuals. Lastly we will cover approaches to evaluating your training sessions to test its effectiveness and help to improve future events.
Delegates will have an opportunity to discuss their own course material and consider the options for delivery in a field or classroom situation. This will be followed by practice sessions with feedback from colleagues and tutors.
