Workshops

2012 Professional Development Programme

The IEEM 2012 training workshops programme is shown below. For further information about each workshop, please click on the workshop title. To book a place, please complete the booking form and send it (either by post, email or fax) to the IEEM office.

Booking

If you book your place two months (or more) in advance of the workshop date, you can apply at the early bird booking rate specified.

Prices

The prices for attending workshops are shown below. Please note that some workshops that take place over two-days may have accommodation included and so this is reflected in the higher costings. Clicking on each individual workshop below will take you to a separate page where the prices of attending are further broken down.
There is no VAT payable on workshop fees, but where a workshop is stated to include accommodation and/or meals, the workshop fee includes the VAT payable on these.

IEEM members: £90 per day (£80 early bird booking rate)
Non-members: £180 per day (£160 early bird booking rate)

IEEM Members Currently on Low Income

In view of the current economic climate, the IEEM Council have recently reviewed the cost of attending workshops and have decided that from the 1st July 2011, one heavily subsidised place per workshop (costing only £45 for a day course!) will be available to members who are unemployed or on a low income.Members in this category may attend up to two subsidised events in 2012 (which also includes conferences).

NB For the EcIA courses in Manchester, London and Birmingham which are taking place in Feb/Mar 2012, the SINGLE subsidised place available on each course is offered at a 25% discount (ie £150 fee for a Level 1 course, £280 fee for a Level 2 course.)

In order to become eligible for this discount, your yearly income should be less than £11,500 and you will need to provide written proof of this (i.e. Tax Credit Certificate, P60, Self Assessment Tax form or similar paperwork).

Please download a copy of the form from the 'Downloadable IEEM Documents' part of the members section of the IEEM website (you will need your username/password to log in to access this)

(NB This booking form should NOT be used for the Ecological Impact Assessment courses being held in Manchester, London and Birmingham in Feb/Mar 2012 nor the Train the Trainer course on 3 May. Bookings for each of these courses should be made via the online booking system that can be reached by clicking on the relevant course title below).

You may need to update your version of Adobe Reader to open the booking form. Please click here to access the Adobe website and download the latest version of the program.

If you find that you can no longer attend a workshop, you can substitute a colleague for no additional fee (swapping an IEEM member for a non IEEM member will incur the difference in the costs).

If there are not sufficient bookings four weeks in advance of a workshop, the tutor may decide to cancel it. Some tutors run workshops with lower numbers, but this is at their discretion. Availability can be checked below but a place cannot be guaranteed until your booking form and payment are received. If a workshop is cancelled by a tutor then a full refund is made to the participant.

Cancellation Policy

The following cancellation rates apply:

  • A 80% refund will be issued for cancellations received two calendar months or more before the workshop date.
  • A 50% refund will be issued up to one month before the workshop.

No refunds or transfers will be made for cancellations made within one month of the workshop.

All cancellations must be received in writing.

IEEM reserves the right to alter or cancel any of the courses for whatever reason. Where a course is cancelled by IEEM, those enrolled will receive a full refund of the course fee.

Joining instructions

These will be emailed out to all participants around three weeks in advance of the workshop so please make sure you print your email address clearly on the booking form. Directions, along with start and finish times, will be included along with a participant list, as IEEM likes to encourage car sharing wherever possible.
If you require details regarding a workshop location and/or start/finish time information more than three weeks in advance, please contact the IEEM Office for assistance.

Lunch

Please bring a packed lunch with you. Tea and coffee will be provided for most classroom based sessions but please bring a drink for the field sessions.

Field visits

For workshops involving time in the field, please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the season and bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent, if necessary. Please advise IEEM of any medical conditions that may affect your participation. To keep costs down, participants are asked to share vehicles when travelling to, and between, field sites.
